Problem
A short-series streaming service needs three things: a player you can swipe through on a phone without stalls, a back office that quickly turns one long video into many episodes, and protection so paid episodes can’t be watched by copying their link.
Solution
The system has three parts.
- App: a Mongolian app for iOS and Android. Episodes play one after another in vertical format, and the next one is preloaded, so swiping never stalls. Viewers can search, follow a series, pick up where they left off and get a notification when a new episode is out.
- Back office: an admin uploads one long video and the system splits it into 1-minute episodes automatically. Series, genres, users, coins and video storage are managed in one place.
- Coins and protection: the first episodes are free and the rest unlock with coins, earned by checking in daily, inviting friends and sharing. A paid episode only plays through a signed link that expires after 2 minutes, so copying the link doesn’t work.
Outcome
The app, back office and server all work and currently run on 6 demo series, with 20 database tables and 23 API endpoints. The launch is waiting on film content rights.
